These machines are also capable of cutting up to 22 degrees taper cut over 100mm thick and our software processors most amazing four axis programs.
Four 50amp Conventional Spark Eroding Machines
Two spark eroding machines are used mainly for eroding pockets into mould die plates that do not need to go all the way through. Using a copper or graphite electrode submersed in paraffin the machine sends a current between it and the workpiece which creates an explosion in turn eroding the steel away.
Three Small Hole EDM Machine
Hole popping machines capable of burning small holes through 400mm thick of hardened steel. Brass wire tubes from 0.3 to 3mm diameter are guided by ceramic guides erode themselves into the steel with water which is pumped through the centre of the brass tube flushing the burnt steel away. These machines are very useful for removing broken taps and studs without damaging the threads.
C-TEK CNC Machining Centre
One C-Tek CNC Machining Centre has a X and Y travel of 800mmx400mm respectively and a 15 station tool
change. This machine has been a great help complimenting the EDM service provided.
This machine is mainly used for two dimensional work.
Two Surface Grinding Machines
Surface grinders are used to grind the surfaces of metal plates and get them perfectly flat parallel and smooth.They are also use extensively to sharpen punches and dies for the metal pressing tool industry. Electromagnetic magnets hold the blocks onto the machine and the table moves from side to side and back and forth under the grinding wheel. The larger of the two can grind a plate 600x300mm.
